About the project
The project entntled:The knowledge and innovation processes in Central and East European economies
was realised with the help of the funds granted to the Institute by the International Visegrad Fund. It was focused on four Visegrad countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
The goal of the project was to contribute to their economic development by collecting and promoting knowledge and expertise on the ways of stimulation of economic development.
Focus on these two main drivers of contemporary growth (i.e. knowledge & innovation) is in line with EU prescriptions for growth expressed in the renewed Lisbon Strategy, namely ?knowledge and innovation will be a beating heart of European growth? (Barroso and Verheugen, EU spring summit, 2005).
The material outcome of the 'Visegrad Project' resulted in a book, published August 2007. Authors of particular papers come from Visegrad countries as well as from various European bodies, e.g. European Commission, OECD.
The project started in February 2007. Its contractual period has been postponed in August till October 31, 2007.
